Fiomarine enters the oil and gas market
Tasmanian based Fiomarine has entered the oil and gas market with a sale of its Fiobuoys into the expanding Western Australian market. URS Australia recently placed an order for five Fiobuoys to assist in its offshore underwater operations.
Fiomarine first introduced the Fiobuoy to offshore customers at the Australasian Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference (AOG) in Perth, Western Australia earlier this year.
As well as entering the oil and gas market, the company is continuing to make inroads into the large international marine research market with sales to both Singapore and China.
An agent representing Fiomarine in China, LinkOcean Technologies, recently placed its first Fiobuoy order for the Chinese Government's National Marine Environmental Monitoring Centre (SOA). The Fiobuoys will be used to recover sediment traps on sea bottom frames. They are due to receive their order in November, and will begin using them by the end of the year.
Fiomarine has also recently supplied Fiobuoys to DHI Water & Environment in Singapore. DHI Singapore is a research and consultancy company providing a range of water and environmental engineering and science services. Many of its clients are Singaporean government agencies involved in marine infrastructure development.
DHI Singapore chose the Fiobuoy due to its features such as the internal modem and infra red system. Communicating with the Fiobuoy via infra red means there are no plugs and sockets.
